This program supports rehabilitation engineering research that develops modeling, simulation, analysis, robotics and systems engineering technology. Application areas include early stage technology development of neuroprosthesis and neuroengineering, robotics rehabilitation, virtual rehabilitation, and biomechanics of human movement. Specific technologies include the development of intelligent hardware and software for the control of devices and the prediction of physiological signals and human behavior.
Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Sciences (MRS)
Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering (MTE)
Note: Many grants in the area of rehabilitation engineering will be directed by CSR to Special Emphasis Panels (http://www.csr.nih.gov/Roster_proto/allother_sep.asp)
Program staff recommend that principal investigators include a cover letter listing areas of scientific expertise needed to review the application and how the expertise should be balanced (please do not include names), or potential study section assignments. Questions may be directed to the program director mentioned above.
