Artificial Platelets Promote Clotting, May Serve as Prophylactic for Soldiers in Battle

Medgadget highlights NIBIB-funded research conducted at Georgia Institute of Technology to create platelet-like particles that augment  clotting to prevent excessive bleeding. The particles are cleverly designed so that they can be given prophylatically to patients with clotting disorders or to soldiers, without also increasing their risk for developing harmful clots.
