Paraplegic Man Trains for First Cyborg Olympics

Although paralyzed from the waist down Michael McClellan is training to compete in a bike race at the first ever Cyborg Olympics in Zurich in October 2016. McClellan is able to ride his bike using 10 electrodes that are implanted in his legs and hips. The neural stimulation system was developed by biomedical engineer Ronald Triolo and his team at the Advanced Platform Technology Center in Cleveland, Ohio. McClellan and the team are fine-tuning the system to go for the gold in 2016. Read more and watch the video at IEEE Spectrum.
