Scientific Program Areas (Extramural)
NIBIB is the newest of the NIH research Institutes and Centers. It was established
to provide a research home for the development and application of new technologies
and techniques for the delivery of health care in the 21st century. It brings together
the research communities of biomedical imaging, bioengineering, the physical sciences
and the life sciences to advance human health by improving quality of life and reducing
the burden of disease.
