Biography

Afrouz Anderson received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in translational biophotonics from the University of California, Davis, and National Institutes of Health. Her doctoral research focused on the application of near-infrared spectroscopy to quantify brain function in children with neurodevelopmental disorders. During postdoctoral research at NIH, she used non-invasive biophotonic methods to examine tissue function, including brain function, in populations with metabolic disorders and to measure placental oxygenation at various stages of pregnancy. As a research scientist, she focused on several aspects of biomedical and imaging research during work for industry and within the non-profit and health care sectors to utilize multi-modality imaging in clinical populations.
