Esohe Edomwandagbon

Biography

Esohe Edomwandagbon earned her B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Prairie View A&M University. During her undergraduate training, she conducted research at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics, where she investigated proteins that regulate the alternative splicing of genes involved in cell proliferation. She then trained as a research fellow at Harvard University in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology and the Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, where she examined gene function in the central nervous system of model organisms. At her home institution of Prairie View A&M University, she studied the experimental investigation of kinetic parameters for the enzymatic hydrolysis of oligosaccharides. Esohe will continue her research career as an Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) Post-Baccalaureate Fellow at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB).

Research Interests

Esohe’s research interests focus on tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and stem cell biology. She aims to investigate how stem cells and biomaterials can be used to restore the structure and function of damaged or diseased tissues. She hopes to advance the understanding of cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying tissue regeneration, with an emphasis on designing biomimetic scaffolds and studying stem cell–matrix interactions.
