The BESIP project will involve development and optimization of image-able polymeric beads for use in an emerging liver cancer therapy known as drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization. Computed tomography and immunohistochemical techniques will be used to visualize bead locations and assess effects of the beads on tissue properties including perfusion, oxygenation, and viability.
