Imaging technique may speed detection of pneumonia-related bacteria in ICU

An international team including researchers at the University of California, Irvine have adapted optical coherence tomography (OCT) to detect bacterial biofilms often associated with ventilator-assisted pneumonia in the ICU. The use of the OCT imaging technique could provide more rapid and frequent monitoring and ultimately lower infection rates. Read more at SPIE News.
