No more insulin injections? Encapsulated pancreatic cells offer possible new diabetes treatment

Researchers at MIT have engineered capsules that could protect insulin-producing cells, derived from stem cells, from being attacked by the immune system. The capsules offer hope that patients with type 1 diabetes may one day be able to receive pancreatic cell transplants without a life-long commitment to immunosuppressants. Read more at news.mit.edu.
