Tenth Anniversary Highlights

This year, NIBIB celebrates 10 years of innovation for health. The Institute began the recognition of this milestone with a series of events on June 21 and 22, beginning with a Capitol Hill briefing sponsored by the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. The event highlighted NIBIB’s decade of scientific progress, with remarks by William Heetderks, NIBIB Associate Director. A dinner that evening featured Robert Bazell, Chief Science and Health Correspondent for NBC News as keynote speaker. On June 22, a Technology Showcase consisted of exhibits and demonstrations of devices and systems developed through NIBIB-funded research. A Scientific Symposium titled “A Decade of Innovation for Health”, featured patient testimonials, videos of interviews with investigators demonstrating the value and impact of their work and scientific advances, and presentations by some of the nation’s premier leaders in academia and government.
