R13/U13 Acceptance Request

NIBIB provides support for investigator-initiated conference and scientific meetings that fall within its research focus in Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. A scientific meeting is defined as a gathering, symposium, seminar, conference, workshop, or any other organized, formal meeting to coordinate, exchange, and disseminate information or to explore or clarify a defined subject, problem, or area of knowledge.

Secondary assignments on R13s do not require approval by NIBIB. Applicants who believe their conference addresses NIBIB’s mission are free to request secondary assignment to NIBIB. If there is a decision by the primary IC to fund the application, NIBIB will consider providing secondary support.

The NIBIB will consider up to $10,000 as a primary assignment and up to $3,000 as a secondary assignment. Please note, approval to apply for an R13/U13 Conference Support Grant does not guarantee funding, and you may be funded for an amount lower than requested. All funding decisions will be made after the Council Review for which you are applying.)

Usage of any awarded NIBIB funds:

Please keep in mind, the NIBIB does not support any form of “entertainment” [ie. coffee breaks, food, etc.]. Additionally, it is discouraged to use NIBIB funds for travel or registration of plenary speakers or honorariums. Priority will be given to applicants who emphasize and encourage the attendance of students, trainees and members of underrepresented groups.
